Think Africa ry

Think Africa is a nonprofit organisation that promotes, engages, and empowers the African diaspora and enhances the collaboration between Finland and African countries.As the Chairperson, I have lead or played a key role in many of Think Africa’s events and programs, Think Africa’s career mentorship, democratic and civic participation, Book Club, Think Africa Week, among many others. Valtteri

VaaliBotti Valtteri was an automated bot that generated news about the Finnish municipal elections that took place on the 9th April 2017. Valtteri could generate news based on what you want to read, for instance, results based on your current location, your birthplace, or even your favorite party or candidate.

Valtteri was developed in the current Immersive Automation research project.

mTiCalc

mTiCalc (‘mti’ means tree in Swahili) is a mobile application for easily performing forestry-related calculations. mTiCalc assists forestry students in performing classroom and field work calculations more effectively, and also helps local farmers in estimating the value of their plantations which will aim them in their decision making for future planting seasons as well as the right time to sell.

Eucalyps is a story based game that focuses on creating awareness about the current forestry-related problems facing Kenya and to educate the community about forests and natural resource conservation.

Detecting and visualizing changes in emotions in texts

An Academy of Finland funded project (2010 – 2013), where I  used natural language processing and machine learning techniques to develop models to automatically detect antisocial behavior as well as emotions and sentiments in user generated content online.

The Empirical Software Engineering Helsinki (ESE) research group addresses software engineering research problems and challenges with industrial relevance or origin.

Doucete  is an entrepreneurial project in collaboration with my sister that is aimed at bringing solutions that tackle everyday hair problems for women of color.

AfroliciousCatering was my first entrepreneurial venture. It began from a love of food and a love for my continent Africa. It lead me to cater to events of about 100 people where I cooked and managed all the food related services.
