Data & Analytics Manager – F-Secure – Aug 2018 – till present

As a Data & Analytics Manager, I add significant fellow-power to F-secure’s data-driven goal of reaching ever higher active users.  I focus on a combination of creating and maintaining higher visibility data measures for F-secure’s existing business, identifying and interpreting data correlations that lead to improved customer journey metrics and advice, and developing models and researches in data analytics to advance the understanding and ability to predict churn and propensity to buy.

Researcher – University of Helsinki – Dec 2014 – Oct 2018

– Within the Immersive Automation project, my colleagues and I developed novel approaches in automatic news generation. First prototype, developed mostly with python, is available here. We first imported structured data, analysed it, then using rule-based and natural language generation approaches, we produced news articles. More details about the approaches can found here and here.

– During the Need for Speed project, I effectively supported development teams in medium and large companies to perform systematic continuous experimentation, a lean-development strategy, that lead to the release of the most valuable product feature. In addition, utilized data and text analysis methods to help a hybrid open source company identify potential new customers from forum data. More information about this work can be found here and here.

Project Coordinator – University of Eastern Finland / University of Eldoret (Kenya) –  Jan 2014 – Dec 2015

– Designed courses and provided training to a dozen university lecturers on strategies for effectively providing courses online.

– Managed and defined requirements of two student-lead mobile application development projects from start to completion. This lead to two practical apps, one for teaching young students on the importance of forests and one that helped farmers asses the value of their products and know when best to sell.

– Successfully coordinated project activities and resolved problems among the multicultural project members who were located in two different continents.

Junior Researcher – University of Eastern Finland – Jan 2010 – Dec 2013

– Conducted quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis. Designed and developed machine learning models for the automatic detection of emotions, sentiments, and antisocial behavior in text.

– Contributed several novel conference and journal publications to the research community in the field of Natural Language Processing. This lead to the development of a competitive product and considerable increase in customers.

Consultant – Liilak Oy – Oct – Nov 2013

Successfully supported the identification of gaps and benchmarks in the field of sentiment analysis. This lead to the development of a competitive product.
